- Short Summary: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) has been detected in up to 20% of pregnancies. GDM is associated with maternal obesity, macrosomia, delivery complications and increased risk for type 2 diabetes (T2D) in mothers and offspring. Insulin is the only medication widely accepted for GDM patients. Oral hypoglycemics have not been approved for the treatment of pregnant women due to potential harm to fetus. Mild and moderate GDM can be treated with lifestyle modification alone. Dietary intervention and weight control may help the management of severe GDM required insulin treatment.

- Short Summary: The incidence of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is increasing every year. Many pregnant women with GDM experience recurrence in subsequent pregnancies. In addition, GDM poses a risk to both the mother and the child, and GDM is an important risk factor for type 2 diabetes(T2DM), so it is necessary to find risk factors for recurrence of GDM. This meta-analysis aims to identify the risk factors associated with recurrence of GDM, to reduce the recurrence rate and to improve the prognosis of patients.
